Day Trail in Mt. Naupa

Since last Monday was a holiday, my gang and I decided to go trekking in Mt. Naupa. It is located in Naga City, Cebu and ranks as 8th highest mountain in Central Visayas with a height of 584 meters above sea water. The place is a popular destination for mountaineers. Its beauty will put you in awe.

My friends and I met in Gaisano Minglanilla to buy stuff at around 11:00 in the morning. Then we rode a jeepney to Lolo Tinong's Bakery in Tungkop, Minglanilla. From there, we hired a habal-habal  to Sto. Nino, Cogon Chapel, which is the jump-off point. We paid 50 pesos each for the ride. The 20-minute bumpy ride is part of the adventure.

And the adventure begins

Butterflies welcomed us as we started trekking. It was an easy trek though it was muddy until we reached halfway of the trail, it started to ascend.

We stopped every now and then to take photos and catch our breaths. We also passed by a quarry and witnessed how it ruined the beauty of nature.

After 10 minutes, we stopped by a nipa hut and met "Tatay", the owner. He invited us to come over to his place to rest for a while since we need to catch our breaths (again). After a couple of minutes of chit chat with Tatay, we continued our journey.

FYI, that's jeggings.

My "I survived" pose

The place was overwhelmingly calm and serene. You could smell the green fresh air and witness the simple lifestyle of people living in the mountain barangays. The ascent took us an hour but with this view, I wouldn't mind the struggles of getting here. It may be exhausting going to the summit but it was all worth it.

We stayed there for like 3 hours because it was just a day trail. We enjoyed the view, the fresh air, and the company of good friends talking about life, coffee, art, music, and passion.
